Anyone interested in water-related activities within the Arkansas River Basin in Kansas and Oklahoma is encouraged to attend the meeting.

The Arkansas River is a major tributary of the Mississippi generally flows to the east and southeast as it traverses the U.S. states of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and river's source basin lies in the western United States in Colorado, specifically the Arkansas River Valley, where the headwaters derive from the snowpack in the Sawatch and Mosquito mountain ranges. The Arkansas River is a brown trout fishery This statement, though historically true, has become less so in recent years. The introduction of the Hofer-Colorado River rainbow cross has seen the population pattern diversify, with about 25% of the fish now rainbows against a 75% majority of browns.

Depletion in annual yield of any subbasin of the Arkansas River Basin caused by the operation of any water storage reservoir either heretofore or hereafter constructed by the United States or any of its agencies, instrumentalities or wards, or by a state, political subdivision thereof, or any person or persons shall be charged against the swate. Water-Quality Assessment of the Arkansas River Basin, Southeastern Colorado, By Roderick F. Ortiz, Michael E. Lewis, and Mary Jo Radell Abstract This report describes the spatial and temporal variations in water-quality conditions in the Arkansas River Basin between April and March Discussions focus on the site-to-site.

The computed annual yield and deficiency of the subbasins as defined in the Arkansas River Compact, Arkansas-Oklahoma, are given in tables. Actual runoff from the subbasins and depletion caused by major reservoirs in the compact area are also given in tabular form.

Monthly, maximum, minimum, and mean discharges are shown for the 14 streamflow stations used in computing annual yield. The computed annual yields for subbasins in the Arkansas River basin as defined in the Arkansas River Basin Compact, Arkansas-Oklahoma,are presented.

The term ' Arkansas River Basin ' means all of the drainage basin of the Arkansas River and its tributaries from a point immediately below the confluence of the Grand-Neosho River with the Arkansas River near Muskogee, Okla., to a point.

Halfmoon Creek. Though its flows are mostly diverted to Forebay and Twin Lakes, and hence, rarely impact the quantity or quality of water in the Arkansas River, Halfmoon Creek is of interest as a tributary fishery to the Arkansas River and, because it has a USGS flow gauge on it, as a representative upper basin tributary for purposes of comparison.

Badger Creek. Five miles below the Wellsville Bridge, Badger Creek feeds the Arkansas River from the north. Though not a major tributary in terms of regular flow, Badger Creek empties a vast drainage north of the river and can flashflood to massive proportions when summer thunderstorms focus their energy in its basin, making it the most frequent culprit in terms of muddy water in the lower canyon.
